New Plants, Trees, and Lawn Installation

Howell Landscape installs new plant material, trees and lawn. Proper planting of trees and shrubs can make a big difference as plants grow and mature. We have 10+ years of experience and know where to plant them, how to plant them, and what plants look the best. Since most trees and shrubs are either containerized or balled and burlapped (B+B) these days, the planting season is extended to year-round.

A properly planted tree or shrub will be more tolerant of adverse conditions and require much less management than one planted incorrectly. Planting technique impacts water quality as it minimizes water, fertilizer and pesticide use. When making decisions on planting techniques, one should consider how the plant was grown in the nursery, the plant's drainage requirements, the soil type and drainage characteristics, and the availability of irrigation water. The plant should be specifically appropriate to the site, or the site should be amended to specifically fit the plant. Howell Landscape takes into consideration, all of these issues when installing the elements to your yard.

New Plants

Planting shrubs and plant material is one of the smartest things you can do-both for yourself and your community. Shrubs can help increase the value of your property and provide privacy and beauty around your home. Container-grown and balled-and-burlapped (B&B) plants with well-developed root systems can be planted throughout the year.

New Trees

Planting trees is an easy and effective way to beautify your property, provide shade in summer and wind protection in winter and enhance privacy all while increasing real estate values at the same time. Since a tree is such a visible part of the landscape, care must be taken to ensure proper growth conditions are maintained. A tree is far more difficult to replace, once mature in the landscape, than most shrubs. However, with some advance planning, trees too can be easily maintained.

New Lawn

Sodding your lawn allows you to enjoy instant beauty and maturity without the usual time-consuming hassles of seeding. Your new sod lawn increases your property value significantly. With proper care, it will remain a great asset, providing beauty, a clean playing surface, and an improved environment.

Varieties of Sod

Dwarf Fescue/Blue sod is a semi dwarf, hardy, disease resistant grass and is the most drought tolerant of the cool season grasses green all year with lower fertilizer and maintenance requirements. It does well in full sun and is more tolerant to partial shade.

Blue or Blue/Rye sod is a finer and softer texture grass that can be mowed at a lower height for that "putting green" look. This turf has been used in athletic fields but requires regular fertilization and water to maintain its year round beauty.
